Tennessee U.S. Rep. Mark Green Joins Colleague Diana Harshbarger on Natural Immunity Is Real Act

U.S. Representative Mark Green (R-TN-07) said he will co-sponsor legislation that U.S. Representative Diana Harshbarger (R-TN-01) filed titled the Natural Immunity is Real Act.

The bill, if enacted into law, would require federal agencies to consider naturally acquired immunity from a previous COVID infection when issuing any rules or regulations aimed at protecting from COVID-19.

Green announced this in an emailed newsletter to his constituents on Thursday.

“It’s past time for federal agencies to take into account naturally acquired immunity and read the science,” Green wrote.

Harshbarger, in a press release last month, said ample scientific evidence from numerous peer-reviewed studies shows that natural immunity from a previous COVID-19 infection is effective, durable and long-lasting.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Harshbarger went on to say, has already acknowledged natural immunity for measles, chickenpox, and many other viruses.

“I’ve always said we need to use all the clinical tools as protection and treatment options to combat COVID-19. However, my bill is a necessary and timely legislative action resulting from President [Joe] Biden’s continued politicization of COVID-19, which continues to create deep divisions among Americans, such as when he chillingly said his national vaccine mandate requirements are ‘not about freedom or personal choice,’” Harshbarger said in the press release.

“Now more than ever, we need to pursue every scientific measure — such as natural immunity — that can help mitigate the pandemic without threatening people’s jobs, our economy, or denying Americans access to everyday life activities based on COVID-19 vaccination status.”

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced the Senate version of the bill, according to Harshbarger’s press release.

Green last week traveled to Oxford, England to meet with members of the United Kingdom Parliament to address lingering “raw emotions” over Biden’s exit from Afghanistan. He said Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was shameful and hurt America’s longstanding political alliance with Britain. Green also scolded Biden for his “refusal to take [British Prime Minister] Boris Johnson’s phone call for 48 hours.”

  1. Nancy

Mark Green is a RINO! Green is ding something good for Tennesseans with this legislation. Green is trying to protect and promote liberal Jim Cooper in the redistricting process. I think people in Davidson county have had enough of of the Cooper brothers ( Jim and Mayor Cooper)! Davidson county needs to be broken up in the congressional redistricting process. Jim Cooper has supported policies that hurt working people, high inflation and high gasoline prices. Primary Mark Green with a real Tennessee Conservative!

  2. How about the “God-given Right to say No Act”? This is just fluff to make it look like our representatives are “fighting” for us. 99.xxx survivability and we need legislation to say no? Please stop; you’re embarrassing yourselves.
